Max successfully steals the data — which, it turns out, contains a “reboot code” that could grant full citizenship and medical access to every human on Earth. As radiation eats away at his body, Max races to Elysium, fighting Kruger, Delacourt’s forces, and his own failing health. In a final, brutal showdown inside Elysium’s central core, Max uploads the data, sacrificing himself to reboot the system. The medical machines become available to all, saving millions — including a childhood friend’s dying daughter back on Earth.
Desperate, he turns to a black-market operative named (Wagner Moura) to help him infiltrate Elysium and use one of its healing machines. Spider agrees, but only if Max agrees to wear an exoskeleton-powered military suit and help steal valuable data from the mind of a ruthless corporate executive, John Carlyle (William Fichtner), who holds the key to reprogramming Elysium’s citizenship database.
