In 1997, Fey joined the writing staff of Saturday Night Live (SNL), becoming one of the show’s first female head writers in 1999. During her nine-year tenure at SNL, Fey wrote or co-wrote many of the show’s most memorable sketches, including the popular “Celebrity Jeopardy!” and “Weekend Update” segments. Her work on SNL earned her multiple Emmy Awards and a reputation as a talented writer and performer.
In addition to her work on SNL and 30 Rock, Fey has appeared in numerous films, including Mean Girls, Baby Mama, Date Night, and Admission. She has also lent her voice to several animated movies, including The Lego Movie and Unikitty.
Fey’s interest in comedy and writing began at a young age. She attended the University of Virginia, where she studied drama and graduated in 1992. After college, she moved to Chicago to pursue a career in comedy, joining the Second City comedy troupe, where she met her future collaborator and friend, Amy Poehler.
